The Distance
Between Us and War

SYNOPSIS
Through the eyes of present day teenagers, the documentary revisits overlooked histories related to Taiwan’s complex role in Japan’s imperial expansion during World War II. Unbeknownst to many, there was Taiwanese involvement in massacres across Southeast Asia. By revisiting these places in Japan, The Philippines, and Malaysia, the film seeks to engage younger generations in reflecting on the lasting impact of war and occupation.
